my grandfather with a kind smile and the afghan girl with grit in her eyes, remind me to always stand for justice. my first name justin is derived from the latin word justus, and my chinese middle name “zunyi,” translates to respect justice. in my art and design, i aim to improve the community by addressing economic, environmental, and social issues through contemporary designs. my ultimate dream is to nurture ubudehe, the rwandan practice of building by the community for the community. chang-lin tien and sharbat gula inspire me to persist and continue the search for the best socially responsible practices while advocating for vulnerable and underprivileged people around the world.
